Blade Runner (1982)

This is the opening scene of blade runner. It opens up with Ariel long shot of the city where this takes place. This scene is tellng me it a dystopian over populated world, with factories and chemicals polluting the world.

This is another scene from blade runner this scene is from wide shot and it shows the cramped up city that movie may take place in.

The Batman (2022)

The Batman movie opens up with a family playing with each other. We see this in the perspective of the person who's watching them from afar in binoculars. We also see the that its very dark and gritty the colours are warm indicating that the family is safe but the outer walls is cold.

You can see in this scene that it's overcrowded with vehicles and very over populated. In this scene you can see a lot of advertising everywhere with bright lights beaming. You can see that Gotham is set in New York.

There Will Be Blood (2007)

In this movie it starts of with an opening long shot of the landscape. we see this movie set in the American wilderness.

The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)

The opening of this movie is someone opening a book and narrating a story to the audience about the 3 main charcarters of the story.

Banshees of Inisherin (2022)

This the opening scene for this movie. Here you can see the camera close up and at shoulder level. This is enough to get the main protagonist and the landscape that  he lives in.

This when the second character is introduced the camera uses a wide shot. You can also see the man in the background which emphasises your focus more on him more

Film Introduction

20 second

During the weekend our teacher tasked us to make a 20 second dialogue with narrative. This is the one that I made:

I start my film up with camera moving to track the subject/actor. I do this to gain the viewers attention as quickly as possible. It also starts of with dialogue. "Move out my way, you don't want the smoke". This line itself is mysterious the audience is straight away hit with fast pace dialogue. Making you want to know more .

This the POV scene that I had made. I did this to make the audience see it from the perspective of the protagonist to make it more engaging and that he's intensely being defended.

Another thing I did was jump cut back and fourth from attacker to defender to make it fast pace to make it even more intense.

Editing and camera Technique

Asynchronous Sound

This is when the audio doesn't match the sound visuals that you're seeing. For example, in this spider-man scene you can hear the sound from the TV but peter is doing something else.

Crosscut

crosscutting is when cut back and forth between scenes. Often used in action happening in different locations is unfolding at the same time For example, in the baptising scene from The Godfather its jumping from two different scenarios to show you something.

Cut

Cut is the most standard and typical transition when editing. Its literally when when clip comes and another one begins. For example in the Air you see it happen immediately.

Fade

The fade is also another typical transition you can have. it eases the viewer in to the scene rather than have a sudden cut. you'll probably have the this transition at the start and end of a movie. In Pulp fiction it's a bit different because You have this fade in the middle of scene to mark and end of chapter and start of a new one.
