Lift (2001)

Lift is a 2001 documentary that is set in typical London flat. the documentary is directed by Marc Isaac, Who has also produced other documentaries that have won awards. In this documentary Marc Isaac put himself in lift with a handheld camera and waits for hours for the residents who live in the flat to come in. At first they are not too fond of him, in fact they are very much the opposite they felt weirded out and some were to hesitant to enter the lift with him assuming he was a bad person who likes to pry on people. Eventually, they get used to him standing in the corner of the lift with camera and he starts to break the ice little bit with them. He begins asking them questions like: "How was your day" or "How long have you been living here for". After a while he askes question that are personal to the person he is interviewing. In the short 30 secs - 1 min he gets with them you begin to see and hear a vulnerable and lonely sides that you never expected from them , This makes the documentary feel so real and intimate because its a genuine human interactions that you don't get nowadays.

Definition of Bias and agenda

Bias

Bias is a tendency to prefer one person or thing to another, and to favour that person or thing. For example, a job is hiring people but this job is hiring males over females even though they have they same skills.

Agenda

Agenda is like having a motive for something. Its like a politician promising something to the people if they vote for him that is his agenda

Font customisation

I used the brush tool to do my fonts as it was a lot more fun to use. The paint brush tool allows the user to paint on a picture or photograph with the selected colour.

This is My first draft of my font design as you can see it needs load of tweaking and fixing. I like the way the fonts look and I like the how friendly it feels when you look at it

On the hand it needs loads of fixes as I stated.

both Cs ( Upper case and lower case) Look extremely dodgy and doesn't look neat this because I drew it free handedly. on my final draft I'll be using an alternative to the brush so it looks more professional.
The proportion is another thing that I'll try to work on my final draft. as you can see no of my fonts are the same sizes this something that'll need to consider.

Amendments

These are the amendments that I made as you can see the letters. are much more centred and straight and even. The B and c are much more better looking and curved

The next thing I did was add my font that i had already downloaded and put on after effect. for this I used my name "Ramzi Osman".

I then duplicated it and inverted so i can make it look like its a shadow. The way I did this was by using the drop shadow element

I also added scale to make it move when it starts. I added it on both.

I also had added a character offset to make it more cooler and look better. Character offset makes a random sequence letter appear. I also did this to show my cool fonts and all its different shapes and sizes.

Synopsis

This documentary I’ll be diving into the rise of disposable vapes and how it got popular. The reason why I want to do this is because I got curious as to why so many people (young people especially) smoke these plastic sticks even though they know the consequences. In this documentary I'll be intervening various people like the people that smoke to the people who sell these products and the health specialist.

Documentary Journey

Warehouse Production

I wanted to make an ident for my documentary trailer like marvel studios or A24. I decied to call mine "warehouse production".

When I went on to google I found this image I thought it looked simple and clean, so I then put it on photoshop to delete the background. I did this by dragging the image to photoshop and using the pen tool to cut around the edges. After I right clicked on my mouse and clicked on make selection. This helped to cut out any unwanted parts of the image.

I saved it as a png and exported it to after effects where I then made my ident. I didn't want to make my ident complex i just wanted something simple.

This is where I used "cmd + A" to select the whole thing then used "cmd + shift + D" to cut.

so I just up the scale to make seem like its coming out of nowhere and added text. I did with help of the key frames.

I add gradient to the background because I thought it was plain. I did this to make more nice to at. You can find the gradient ramp on generate. All it does is ad combination of colours to make fade in the background.

all you have to do is use the scale to move the effect around or use the anchor point on the screen

Documentary Editing Process

I started of editing by writing "Ramzi Presents" with Using the impact font.

I also added my warehouse production ident. I did this because I wanted to make this look as professional as possible as if its like a real documentary.

I also added the fade out effect by right clicking my mouse and clicking on "apply default transition"

I added the videos I recored and added the caption "Elf Bar" for more of a dramatic effect. I also made video smaller to give it more of a dramatic effect.

I used the razor tool cut out all the unwanted parts. For this part I cut out the last bit so I can have transition of me walking out.

I unlinked the clip so I can add stock footage when I name the places where the vapes can be found.

I also added creepy music at the start so i can build suspense in the intro. keep the audience at the edge of their seats.

I first Started of by adding solid black background to start of with. So I can save it again.

This the font that I'll be using It's called "Times New Roman" I used It because I liked it.

I added the scales key frames, from big to small to make it look like its coming out the screen.

Outcome

I then added this to my trailer as my title. I also added a transition to make it more smooth.
